Before beginning a project, we will give you our best estimate of the amount of time or money your project will take. Please understand that this estimate is just an estimate, not a guarantee.
We charge a consistent hourly rate per project, decided on before the start of work. Subsequent projects may be billed at a different rate. If we purchase software, hosting, domains, print services, stock photography or illustration, or any other goods or services for your project, these fees will be added to your final invoice.
We require a down payment before work is started. Your final payment will be due within 21 days of invoicing (after project completion). If a project goes over budget due to an increase in the project's scope, we may require a second payment before proceeding.
We do not provide refunds on worked hours. If we have received payment from you in excess of the billable hours, that amount will be refunded at completion or cancellation of the project.
The completed website design, including all images and design elements, are your property on project completion and final payment. Sometimes we will offer multiple design concepts for you to choose from, or go through multiple design ideas while refining your concept. Unused designs will not be your property, and may be re-used or sold to other clients, as long as they don't resemble your final site closely.
You may redesign your Aeolidia-designed site at any time, but if you wish to alter elements created by us, please contact us to make this request. The site and all contents are your property, but if the final product is altered greatly, we may ask you to remove the "site by Aeolidia" credit.
Your site will be listed in our portfolio online once completed. If you end up not using our work for any reason, we may put your project in our portfolio without a link to your site.
We require a small link back to our site from all sites we've designed, coded, and/or integrated an ecommerce solution into. If you would prefer not to include this link, we can negotiate a fee to remove it.
Information about your project's hours or pricing will never be listed in a public area, but may be provided confidentially to prospective clients as examples of what we can do within their budget. If you would prefer that this information be kept completely private, please notify us.
We may take wording from your correspondence with us to use as testimonials or for other promotional uses.
If you're working with an Aeolidia artist, please check their terms and conditions.
When doing print design, problems with the printing are the responsibility of the printer who has created the finished product, and can usually be resolved through them. If we commissioned the printing, we will follow up on any problems or complaints for you.
When providing artwork for use on your site, we require that you have a license to use it. This means that the artwork needs to be:
- royalty-free clip art,
- clip art purchased for use on the web,
- custom-designed for you to use on your site, or
- you must have permission by the original illustrator, photographer, or artist to use their work on your site.
This will always apply to artwork we choose for you as well.
If requested, original design or logo documents (PSD, AI) can be provided, as well as other Photoshop files, such as actions, shapes, and brushes used on your site.
Testing will be performed when your site is complete and before going live. Testing is always thorough, and includes HTML validation, link validation, proofreading, and cross-browser/cross-platform testing.
We will do our best to ensure that there are no errors in the completed project before going live/completing the project. It will, however, be your responsibility to ensure that there are no errors contained in the final product. Aeolidia Design is not liable for any errors contained in the final product after it has been committed to print or made viewable online, though we will be happy to correct errors.
If you sign up for our backup service, we will make backup copies of your site and/or database files as often as agreed upon. These backups will be stored on a back up hard drive and in a directory on our server for extra security. We will be in no way responsible for loss of your data, but will make every reasonable attempt to save your data. If there is any problem with the data we have saved for you, such as file corruption, incomplete data, or incompatible SQL files, we will not be responsible for data loss. If you need to have your site or database restored from our backup files, we will charge an hourly rate for the time it takes to restore your data.
Claims for defects, damages, and/or shortages must be made by the client in writing within a period of fifteen days after project completion. Failure to make such claim within the stated period shall constitute irrevocable acceptance and an admission that the Project fully complies with terms, conditions, and specifications.
