And as dedicated chocophiles ourselves, it is our pleasure to bring people good ol' fashioned chocolates with complex flavor profiles created by true artisans. Crafted by hand in small batches, H.S. Chocolate Co. confections are reminiscent of the sumptuous sweets of childhood but with just enough of a twist to delight sophisticated palates. We offer artisan candy bars, filled chocolates, and chocomels (flavored caramels dipped in chocolate -- they taste even better than they sound). Our treats blend classic and exotic flavors, and we always start with fresh, high-quality ingredients utilizing local purveyors whenever possible.
H.S. Chocolate Co., located in New York City, is owned and operated by MaryAnne Hoekstra-Shekar, a lifelong lover of chocolate who considers her sweet tooth a badge of honor. She has fond memories of spending time at her grandmother's small town cafe in Minnesota before and after school watching the magical creation of an array of delicious desserts. Many of the treats in the H.S. Chocolate Co. product line pay homage to MaryAnne's childhood and the memories of her favorite sweets.

Artisan Candy Bars:
What makes a candy bar an "artisan" candy bar? How about the intoxicating combination of toasted hazelnut nougat and raspberry ganache, or spiced nougat atop pumpkin spice caramel? Not exactly the ho-hum foil-wrapped fare you remember being tossed into your little plastic pumpkin on Halloween, right? No, these are candy bars grown up. Candy bars for a palate that appreciates fresh, local ingredients and flavor profiles that surprise as much as they satisfy. Candy bars that don't belong anywhere near a plastic pumpkin. These are candy bars for you.
Filled Chocolates:
Remember rifling through the tray of filled chocolates on your grandma's dining room table, selecting one that looked promising, and biting into it with the urgent hope that it wouldn't be one of those weird syrupy flavors that you'd have to stuff in your pocket and toss away when ol' granny wasn't looking? Well, these aren't those filled chocolates. Think creamy peanut butter mixed with crunchy, sourdough pretzels or the heaven that is fresh lemon cream dipped in milk chocolate. We only call them "filled chocolates" because "OhmygoodnessthatisdefinitelythebestthingIevertasted" wouldn't fit on the label.
Chocomels:
Too sinfully delicious to discuss in polite company, our chocomels are flavor-infused caramels dipped in either smooth milk or decadent dark chocolate. Think you can't have the satisfying flavor combination of a full-bodied beer and a handful of salty peanuts in one small piece of candy? Think again. Doubtful you can hold an entire bananas foster in the palm of your hand? We'll convince you. It's already quality chocolate combined with house made caramel, so even without our unique flavor infusions you've already got extreme deliciousness. But that little extra love we add in the form of fresh fruit, spices, and nuts? Whoa, Nelly. These are caramels for the ages.
